Château de Labourdonnais

Château de Labourdonnais

The Château de Labourdonnais is set within a privately owned estate of 540 hectares in the north of Mauritius. This beautiful colonial house is surrounded by orchards and was built between 1856 and 1859. Recently renovated and converted into a museum, you will be taken back in time to see what it would have been like to live in a colonial mansion in the nineteenth century. Amongst the exhibits, there is a short film and a cooling fountain at the entrance. Take a tour of the gardens and orchards to see mango and nutmeg trees and pass by giant Aldabra tortoises grazing, as well as viewing many other exotic flora and fauna.
